“The aim of argument, or of discussion, should not be victory, but progress.”— Joseph Joubert

Webinars, live sessions, courses, mentorship programs, online lectures, and what not? During this period of an extended lockdown, many of us had a great learning time on screens but isn’t knowledge nothing less than a waste if not utilized? And so we thought it was about time we delivered our participants what they expected. Something different yet impactful! Following our run of amazing events, the Entrepreneurship Development Cell, of Poona College of Pharmacy (BVDU, Pune) came up with a Group Discussion competition- ROUND TABLE 1.0.

The judge for our competition was Mr. Jasmeet Singh who is himself an entrepreneur, having his very own startup called Closer Singh. Adding the cherry on top, he’s also the club president in one of the clubs of Toastmasters International.

The topic for GD was inspired by the recent times of pandemic, Online vs Offline Marketing. The entrepreneurial world needs a firm marketing base at every point of its journey. Jasmeet Sir gave valuable advice on oratory skills to the participants before starting. One such valuable piece of advice was to be assertive while expressing your views and the practicability of the model being suggested by the participant.

Each participant was given 1 minute and 30 seconds to put forward their respective views followed by an open discussion for 10 minutes in the end.

Each participant was judged on basis of :

  • Subject knowledge,
  • Interpersonal skills,
  • Communication skills,
  • Listening and Conceptualizing ability,
  • Problem-solving ability.

As the discussion was held one model which was appreciated was the O2O model i.e. Online to offline marketing model which suggests that a unique balance between both the marketing strategies works on an optimum level to yield a maximum consumer base.

“A good rule for discussion is to use hard facts and a soft voice.” — Dorothy Sarnoff

Moving towards the end of the session, our Cell President, Swetanshu Subhrajit announced the winners and expressed our gratitude to that every being who had a zeal to take some lessons back home. We would like to extend our gratitude to Mr. Jasmeet Singh for taking out time from his busy schedule and judging the competition and also guiding the participants at the end.
